Questions you may have
Will my patio heave after a winter?
Not one built on a base that drains. Water in the base is what heaves a patio. We build on clean crushed stone that lets water pass, with fabric between soil and stone and geogrid holding the layers together as the ground moves.
What do you build patios out of?
Natural stone, pavers, or reclaimed granite, chosen for the look you want and the house the patio sits beside. Bluestone and fieldstone for a coastal look, pavers for a smooth surface with more choice in pattern, reclaimed granite where age and weight matter.
Do you build outdoor kitchens?
Yes. We have built grill patios with the grill set into the stone, and we will build a full outdoor kitchen with counters and storage.
Can you add a patio to a sloped yard?
Yes. A slope is held with a seat wall or a retaining wall, the patio is set level behind it, and the grade is used to carry water away. Most of the yards we work on in coastal Maine slope somewhere.
